Carabuena Tequila Earns Top Marks in 2025 Agavos Awards

We’re officially the gold standard:

All 3 Carabuena Tequilas were awarded top marks in this year’s Agavos Awards, which honors excellence in tequila.

Carabuena Blanco won the highest possible honor of a double-gold medal, in addition to a gold medal each for Carabuena Reposado & Añejo.

Entries are blind-tested and graded on a 100-point scale based on a series of criteria relating to appearance, aroma, taste, and finish. Judges are selected based on their knowledge and familiarity with agave spirits.

Hear what the judges had to say about our double-gold medal winner, Carabuena Tequila Blanco:

“Very good mix of fresh and cooked agave (herbal and fruital notes), notes of quince, apricot, and a faint funk. Super well balanced with sweet, savory. and bitter elements. Long, pleasant finish. Truly outstanding. A pleasure to sip!”

On gold medal winner, Carabuena Tequila Reposado:

“This is funky and fun. It has lots of nuts/peanuts on the aroma. Some maple, and smoke as well. Flavor is lacking the funk in the aroma, which I like. There's some barrel spice, pine, cinnamon, and cooked agave on the finish. It's clean and interesting.”

And on gold medal winner, Carabuena Tequila Añejo:

“Amber/gold. Good viscosity. Aroma: Warming spices, cooked agave, oak, banana, fruit. Flavor: Warm banana bread, cooked agave, honey, plum, fruit preserves, oak. Finish: Long with baking spices, plum, honey, and banana. Very nice añejo — well balanced and warming.”
